Types of Activities
  • Developing National Ukrainian Climate Change (CC) Strategy:
    • Conducting meetings-workshop of Joint Ukrainian-canada Program Management Committee, working out cooperation development strategy within the Program framework, holding the Final Conference
    • Establishing links between national organizations in Ukraine and Canada
    • Providing for ongoing information exchange with respect to major responses to UN Framework Convention on CC
  • Developing Climate Change Management Structure:
    • Facilitating administrative structure in Ukraine for climate change efficient management
    • Providing for ongoing information and documentation exchange on methodologies
    • Preparing proposals on improving climate system observation, studying and forecasting climate behavior
  • Joint Implementation Projects (JIP) Police Development:
    • Identifying sectors and individual enterprises that could be of special interest to Canadian companies interested in JIP
    • Exchanging information on joint implementation projects criteria, results indicators and joint actions procedures
    • Identifying and promoting joint implementation projects aimed at mitigation GHG emissions
    • Facilitating private sector investment in joint implementation projects
    • Supporting information exchange on public and private sector organizations

Summary Description
Increase the capacity of Ukraine and Canada in reducing atmospheric pollution (emissions of greenhouse gases/climate change)

Strategic Objective
  • To strengthen Ukraineъs and Canadaъs capacity to act within the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change
  • To facilitate Canadaъs and Ukraineъs efforts to establish а sound managerial infrastructure to support the development of "Flexible mechanism" initiatives under the Kyoto Protocol, in particular, joint implementation mechanism
  • To promote, develop and implement Canadian-ukrainian joint implementation projects aimed at reducing greenhouses gas emissions
  • To promote long-term links between Canadian and Ukrainian public and private sector institutions active in the environment and energy sectors and coordinate with other Countries and International Agencies participating in Ukrainian and Canadian environmental and climate change activities
