Development of а pilot action plan for measures aimed at mitigating the anthropogenic impact on climate change at а municipal level (with the city of Rivne as а model), determining preconditions and ways for implementing the project and preparing recommendations so that its results can be replicated in other cities of Ukraine

Types of Activities

Review and analysis of content of the cityъs actions plan on energy saving

Arranging the inter-agency meetings to discuss objectives and main steps of Rivne’s actions plan with participation of representatives of local authorities, industry, private sector, environmental and public organizations

Identification of GHG emission sources in Rivne

Identification and analysis of possible mitigation measures in Rivne (energy efficiency, fuel-switching, renewable and alternative energy sources, carbon sequestration)

Estimation of а tentative cost of identified mitigation measures

Estimation of GHG emission reduction values for identified mitigation measures

Development of Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan for Rivne

Assessment of existing barriers (legal, regulatory, institutional, financial) to implement the Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan in Rivne

Preparation of recommendations for local authorities on prerequisites for the implementation the the Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan in Rivne

Rating and prioritizing GHG emission reduction capacity in the JI context;

Preparation of а list of possible JI projects for Rivne

Preparation of plan for dissemination of project results and benefits over Ukraine

Arranging а meeting to discuss, approve and disseminate the results obtained within the project with the participation of Canadian experts, representatives of local authorities, industry, private sector, environmental and public organizations both for Rivne and other regions of Ukraine.
